What is Driving Camp?

What is Driving Camp?

Driving Camp (training camp training) is a driver's license that is obtained in a shorter period of time than commuting to school, and at a reasonable price, by staying at an accommodation designated by a driving school and attending a designated training course every day from the day of enrollment until graduation. This is a plan that aims to

At what age can you enter the school?

It depends on the license you get:
■ Standard car
18 years of age or older (18 years of age at the time of taking Driving Test)
■Small motorcycle/ Regular Motorcycle
16 years of age or older (16 years old at the time of Final Driving Test)
*Some driving schools require enrollment age of 16 or older.
■ Heavy Motorcycle
Over 18 years old
*Some driving schools require a small or Regular Motorcycle license to enroll.
■Large
21 years of age or older (must have had a regular or large special license for at least 3 years)
*Excluding those taking special training courses

Are there any admission requirements other than age?

■ Vision
・Standard vehicles, motorcycles: 0.3 or more in one eye, 0.7 or more in both eyes
*Even if one eye is less than 0.3, it is acceptable as long as the visual field angle of the other eye is 150 degrees or more on the left and right.
Large: 0.5 or more for one eye, 0.8 or more for both eyes, and depth perception error within 20 mm
■Hearing
Able to hear normal conversation
■Color vision
Able to distinguish between red, blue and yellow
■Body
No physical disability that impedes driving a car

What is the difference compared to attending school?

When commuting to school, students make full use of the training deadline and proceed with lessons at a time that is convenient for them, but in the case of training camps, students must proceed with lessons efficiently in a short period of time in accordance with the curriculum determined by the driving school. You can. Additionally, it is possible to graduate in a shorter period of time compared to commuting, and the fees are often reasonable.

Why is a training camp cheaper than a school license?

By organizing the schedule from enrollment to graduation, especially Driving Lessons, the driving school can provide multiple lessons more frequently. This is said to be one of the reasons why the price is cheaper.
In addition, training camps are generally located in rural areas, and the cost of land and other expenses are significantly different compared to urban commuting schools.

How can you graduate in such a short time?

With Driving Camp, the driving school will plan all of the schedule from enrollment to graduation (Driving Lessons, written training, Driving Test, Final Driving Test).
In addition, at many training camps, Driving Lessons is conducted every day for two hours per day in the first stage and three hours per day in the second stage, with academic training held between the Driving Lessons.
You will progress straight through to Driving Test and Final Driving Test without any breaks, which is a major factor in being able to graduate in such a short period of time.
This allows you to take lessons in a concentrated and efficient schedule, so you can quickly acquire driving skills.

Short

Why do fees vary so much depending on when you enroll?

There are peak and off-seasons for Driving Camp. During the peak season, fees are set higher due to the high demand from students, who are the main participants, during summer and spring vacations.
During the off-season, it is difficult for students to schedule two weeks of stay, so demand is lower and prices are adjusted lower.
In general, it's similar to the seasonality of travel.

How long does it take to graduate Driving Camp?

You can expect to graduate in about 16 to 17 nights if you have a standard car license (MT), and 14 to 15 nights if you drive an AT car. We also introduce driving schools where you can stay one night shorter and graduate on 15 days for MT and 13 days for AT. The "Estimated Graduation Date" varies depending on the driving school and time of year, so please contact our customer center for details.

Short

What does Estimated Graduation Date mean? Are you sure you can graduate in the shortest possible time?

This is the expected graduation date if you do not take any Driving Lessons lessons and pass all the required Driving Test, Final Driving Test, and provisional license tests. The practical tests and written tests may not be held every day.
If you fail the exam once, you may not be able to take the exam again the next day, which may delay your graduation date by a few days.
Many of those who participate in Driving Camp are able to graduate in the shortest possible time. However, there are also quite a few who fail the written exam and end up having to extend their time.
During your free time during the camp, you can use the effectiveness assessment test to build your confidence and prepare yourself for the exam.

Short

How should I choose a driving school?

All driving schools introduced by our center are designated by the Public Safety Commission and exempt from practical tests.
It goes without saying that the level of instruction is high, but more than that, only schools that have passed our rigorous screening process are selected to participate in our training camps, in terms of infrastructure and services.
First, you will choose based on your desired dates, area, and budget. If you let us know your preferences, we will introduce you to the best driving school and plan.

What kind of driving schools do you have?

All driving schools introduced by Do-live are designated by the Public Safety Commission, and students are exempt from the practical test after graduation.
We provide information on approximately 90 driving schools across the country, from Hokkaido to Okinawa Prefecture.

I heard that there is a deadline for training.

There is a deadline for the training, which is nine months from the time you take the first academic course you take after enrolling, [Preliminary Academic 1].
A provisional license also has a validity period of six months after you obtain it. However, obtaining a provisional license does not extend your driving training period by six months.
In the case of Driving Camp all training takes place over a period of two to three weeks, so in most cases you will be able to complete your training within the time limit.

How many hours of lessons can I take in a day?

You can take up to two hours Driving Lessons in the first stage and up to three hours in the second stage.
There is no time limit for taking the academic courses as a graduation course.

About license

Why do I need a driver's license?

-An essential item for campus life with new friends.
・You are now a full-fledged college student. You can definitely make use of this when you are visiting your parents' home or at home.
・A driver's license serves as a lifetime qualification and identification.
- Mentoring may be included as a condition of employment.
- It is especially essential for those in sales positions, and will not cause any problems even if you are working in a rural area, on a secondment, on a business trip, or transferred.
-Once you have children, you will also need it for shopping and taking them to and from nursery school, etc.
- For caring for grandparents and taking them to and from work. In an aging society, it is also essential when going out and shopping.

It is difficult to obtain a driver's license after graduating from high school, vocational school, or university!

Nowadays, having a driver's license is a given.
If you are thinking of taking it someday, I would recommend that you obtain it while you are a student. However, university students are busy, too. In addition, as you get older, you will have even less time due to practical training, research, internships, job hunting, and so on.
We recommend taking this exam during your first or second year, when you have more time to spare.

The amount of time spent on lessons to get a driver's license is surprisingly large, and the theory part has a set timetable, so you need to follow that. If you don't study efficiently, you will end up having to go to the driving school many times.
It becomes more difficult to be flexible with your time once you graduate from university, so it is recommended that you obtain this qualification while you are a student.

  need

What are the visual acuity requirements for obtaining a license?

・Standard vehicles, motorcycles: 0.3 or more in one eye, 0.7 or more in both eyes
*Even if one eye is less than 0.3, it is acceptable as long as the visual field angle of the other eye is 150 degrees or more on the left and right.
Large: 0.5 or more for one eye, 0.8 or more for both eyes, and depth perception error within 20 mm

Can I get a moped license at a training camp?

With a motorcycle Driving Camp, you can guide regular motorcycles and Heavy Motorcycle, regardless of AT/MT. If you wish to obtain a moped license, you can take a "moped course" by passing the relevant test at a driver's license examination center, and your license will be issued after the course is completed. For more information, please contact the driver's license examination center at the address listed on your resident record.

Please tell me the difference between regular automatic (AT) cars and regular manual (MT) cars and the training hours for each.

AT = Automatic transmission
It has only two pedals, the accelerator and brake, and is usually operated with the right foot, so it is easy to operate and has become the mainstream in many cars.
The lesson time is
Driving Lessons 12 hours for stage 1, 19 hours for stage 2, total 31 hours (minimum training hours)
There are 10 hours of theory training for the first stage and 16 hours for the second stage, for a total of 26 hours.

MT = Manual Transmission
In addition to the accelerator pedal and brake pedal, three pedals are operated using both feet: the clutch pedal.
Compared to automatic transmissions, there is an additional clutch pedal, so you will need to operate it with your left foot, but you can choose the gear yourself, which makes driving more fun.
The lesson time is
Driving Lessons 1st stage 15 hours, 2nd stage 19 hours, total 34 hours (minimum training hours)
There are 10 hours of theory training for the first stage and 16 hours for the second stage, for a total of 26 hours.

Is all training for MT license conducted in MT cars?

I drive both. The training curriculum includes practice with AT cars, so once you get your driver's license, you will be able to drive either type of car without any problems.

Can I change my lesson from a MT car to an AT car?

Sometimes people apply for a manual transmission car and take manual transmission training, but then say, "It's too difficult, so I'd like to change to an automatic transmission!"
In this case, you can change to an automatic transmission midway through the trip.
However, please note that you cannot change from AT to MT during the lesson.

If I get a license for an AT car and then need a license for a MT car, do I have to start over from the beginning?

There is a method called "AT restriction release".
You can graduate from the driving school after passing four Driving Lessons and the practical test.
If you go to a driver's license center, the restrictions will be removed from your regular driver's license and you will be able to drive manual vehicles.

Will I be exempt from taking the final test at the driver's license exam center?

All driving schools introduced by ID are designated by the Public Safety Commission of each prefecture, so students are exempt from the practical test that they must take at the driver's license testing center (license center) after graduation.
However, the graduation certificate issued by the driving school is valid for one year.
Please be aware that if you do not pass within this one-year deadline, you will have to start over from the beginning.

Can I take the final exam at the license center anywhere?

The driver's license examination center (driver's license center) where you will take the test after graduation will be located at the address on your resident record, so please be careful if your current address and the address on your resident record are different.

Application and payment

[Application] What kind of training camp training plans do you have?

For regular cars and motorcycles, we recommend the ``Guaranteed Course Until Graduation'', which does not require additional fees (training, certification, accommodation and meals).

a training camp

[Application] Are there any driving schools that have one free day during the training camp period?

Basically, Driving Camp plan is scheduled so that there is not a single free day from the time you enroll until you graduate.
Also, there are some driving schools that are closed on Sundays (school holidays) and therefore cannot provide lessons on Sundays, so please check when deciding on a driving school.

a training camp

[Application] When is the best time to apply?

The best time to apply will depend on whether the month you wish to enroll is peak or off-peak season.
During peak seasons, we are literally inundated with applications, and even if you apply three months in advance for your desired month, the start date just before the high season rate may already be fully booked.
On the other hand, during the off-season, if you apply one month before your desired enrollment date, you will likely be able to enroll in the plan you want.
However, if you would like to enroll in a group or take advantage of a hotel plan, we recommend that you apply early as soon as your schedule is solidified.

[Application] By when should I apply for Driving Camp for spring break?

Spring break is a time when many students prepare for further education or employment, and it is also a time when not only high school students but also university and vocational school students get their driving licenses. This is the busiest time of the year for driving schools.
In late October, spring seasonal items will be available and sales will begin. Unlike the commuting license, Driving Camp is fully booked for almost all enrollment dates from late January to mid-March by mid-January.

[Application] Can I apply or enroll unless I am 18 years old?

You do not need to be 18 years old at the time of application.
However, you must be 18 years old by the time you enroll, complete the first level of training, pass Driving Test, and pass the provisional license Karimenkyo Written Test license.
In the case of training camps, the number of days after enrollment that a provisional license will be issued will vary slightly depending on the driving school, the enrollment date, and whether you are taking the automatic or manual course, so please be sure to check when applying.

[Application] I want to apply for Driving Camp and enroll immediately! Is it possible?

If there are spaces available at the training camp affiliated with our center, you may be able to enroll the day after applying.
In this case, payment to our center must be confirmed before enrollment.
Please contact us as soon as possible. Applications are flooded in 2-3 months in advance, especially during peak seasons (February, March, August, September), so we recommend that you plan well in advance.

[Application] How far in advance do I have to apply to get in on my desired date? Can friends share the same room?

Applications will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. For training camps, the number of places accepted is fixed for each enrollment date, and applications will close once the capacity is reached.
When applying, please specify that you are two friends. You can share a room with your friends in a regular room (shared room), but you will be sharing a room with other customers, and depending on the driving school, you may end up in separate rooms. If you definitely want to share a room, please apply for a twin room.

[Application] I would like to apply together with a friend, but would it be difficult to have them share the same room if they each have an automatic car and a manual car?

The curriculum and minimum number of days for Regular Manual and Regular Automatic are different. Depending on the school, the start days may be different.
In other words, even if you have the same enrollment date, your expected graduation dates will be different. If there is room available, you may be able to share a room.
In this case, we cannot wait for those driving Regular Manual to graduate.
If there is sufficient time between application and enrollment, it is possible for MT and AT to enroll on the same day and in the same room.

[Application] If I want to participate with a friend, how should I apply?

Please have the representative apply by phone or through the application form.
First, we will process the representative's application. At that time, we will ask the names and number of people who will be enrolling with you.
After that, please tell all your friends to call our customer center directly. We will complete the application process for each of them by phone. This completes the application process.

[Application] If I am participating with three friends, will the representative make all the applications? Or do three people each apply?

If you are applying online, please have only the representative complete the application process first.
There is a selection field called "Number of people wishing to enroll", so please select how many people, including the representative, will be attending.
After you apply, we will call you. We will ask for your friend's name, etc.
When you apply, we will ask for some personal information, so your friends who will be joining you will need to call our center later to apply.

[Application] Can I enter the school with a regular driver's license even if I am 17 years old? Can I still enroll even if I turn 18 during the regular car training camp?

As a general rule, you cannot take Driving Test (provisional license test) before starting road training until you are 18 years of age or older.
Therefore, you must be 18 years old on the day of Driving Test. Driving Test is held about one week after enrollment.
Driving Test for regular manual transmission vehicles is held on the 9th day after enrolling in the Driving Camp school, and for regular automatic transmission vehicles it is held on the 7th day, so as long as you have turned 18 by those days you will be OK.
For example, if your 18th birthday is March 15th, you can attend the training camp for a standard automatic transmission driver's Driving Camp as long as your enrollment date is after March 9th.
Conditions may vary depending on the school, so please feel free to contact us for more information.

[Application] My birthday is March 14th, so I have to graduate in March. An AT car is also fine. Is it possible?

To participate in the intensive training course for a standard vehicle driver's license, you must be 18 years old at the time of taking Driving Test.
If your birthday is March 14th, you can start enrolling from around March 7th (enrollment dates and test dates vary depending on the driving school).

[Application] I am 15 years old now, but I will turn 16 in 5 days from the day I want to enroll. Can I attend a training camp for Regular Motorcycle licenses even if I am 15 years old?

Yes, you can. You cannot enroll if you are not 16 years old when you take Final Driving Test for Regular Motorcycle license.
The minimum number of days required to complete Regular Motorcycle training camp is approximately 10 days from enrollment to graduation (varies depending on the driving school).
Children can enroll from about 10 days before their 16th birthday. Please contact us for more details.

[Application] On the driving school's page, there is a statement that can be interpreted as a restriction such as "Prices and guarantees apply until the age of 40." In that case, are you not over 40 years old?

You can apply even if you are over the age stated.
This is the age limit for those who are covered by the standard warranty (please check the introduction page for each school for details of the warranty).
Fees and warranty contents may vary depending on the driving school, so please contact the customer center for details.

[Application] I have had my license revoked in the past, but is it still possible to apply for Driving Camp?

The license disqualification period must have ended and you must have completed the training course for those who have been disqualified.
If you would like to know whether you are eligible to take a driver's license training course, please contact the driver's license center before calling to apply.

[Application] Is it okay if I do not transfer my resident card when enrolling?

There is no need to transfer your residency.
You can enroll at any training school across the country using your current address and residence card.

[Application] Is it possible to change the enrollment date decided at the time of application?

You can change your enrollment date before or after you apply.
You can also change driving schools if the enrollment date you wish to change is fully booked.
Depending on the timing of your change notification, we may charge you a change fee. Please see the terms of use for details.
Especially during busy periods, the plan content and price may change if the enrollment date changes, so please contact us as soon as possible.

[Application] What kind of people are participating in the training camp?

The period from January to March is when many high school seniors and university freshmen and sophomores are about to graduate.
At other times of the year, many people who obtain medium-sized and large-sized vehicle licenses are working adults. In addition, although the driving school does not hold training camps, it does hold courses for seniors, and people of various ages attend the driving school.
Many people use the training camp to study not only for regular cars but also for truck licenses, taxi licenses, and bus licenses.
It seems that not only Japanese nationals but also foreign nationals are present, so I think that one of the unique things about Driving Camp is that you have the opportunity to talk to people of other nationalities.

[Application] I came to Japan for work and my nationality is Chinese. I am not a Japanese citizen, but can I apply for Driving Camp?

Yes, you can. When enrolling, you will need a residence card and/or certificate of residence showing your nationality, etc.
If you cannot read, write, listen, or speak Japanese at all, you will not be able to keep up with the classes, so we may conduct a Japanese conversation test.
Among the schools affiliated with our center, there are some schools that have textbooks in foreign languages (Chinese, English, etc.) and have foreign staff.
We can also introduce you to Karimenkyo Written Test test in a foreign language (Chinese, English, etc.). Please feel free to contact us.

[Application] I would like to know more about ``areas where students are not allowed to attend training camps''.

Unlike commuting to Driving Camp, there are areas where you cannot enter the driving school. A non-entry area is an area where you cannot enter the driving school, and the general criterion is where you currently live.
The reason why there are areas where enrollment in training camps is not possible is because we want to accept students as "commuters" within the areas where shuttle buses are operated from the driving school.
These criteria vary slightly depending on the driving school, but if you meet the criteria, you will not be able to enroll. However, depending on the driving school, there may be cases where you can enroll in a special way even if you live in the relevant area.

[Application] My parents' home is near the training camp school. Can I attend from my parents' house without staying at the training camp's accommodation?

If you wish to participate in a training camp, in principle you will be required to stay in the accommodation of the training camp school and receive training from the time you enroll until graduation.
If you can commute to the driving school from your home, you will participate in the course by commuting to the school. Please consider changing your driving school or attending the course by commuting to the school.
There may be exceptions depending on the school, so please contact us.

[Application] I have a graduation ceremony during my stay at the training camp and would like to go home. Is that possible?

As a general rule, you will not be able to return home temporarily, but if you let us know in advance, it may be possible for you to return home temporarily.
It is important that you contact us before applying. Also, please make sure to check whether there will be any accommodation costs during your temporary return home.

[Application] Is it possible to go home temporarily during the training camp period?

Since Driving Camp is based on the principle of continuous training, we generally do not allow students to return home temporarily.
Even in such driving schools, it may be possible to return home temporarily under certain conditions, such as for a limited period of time.
If you wish to return home temporarily, you will need to contact the driving school in advance. Therefore, if you wish to return home temporarily, please be sure to request this when applying.
In most cases, you will have to pay for your own transportation costs to return home temporarily, and depending on the driving school, you may be charged an extra night's stay.
Please note that driving schools will be closed during the New Year holidays, so you will need to return home temporarily during that time.
In addition, there is a "Graduation Ceremony Temporary Return Home Plan" for high school, university, and vocational school students who will be graduating in the spring. If you are worried about the schedule conflicts that will inevitably involve graduation ceremonies, please feel free to contact us.

[Application] If the training camp schedule falls over the year-end and New Year holidays, will I be staying at the driving school? Are you going home once?

Depending on the December calendar for each year, police stations that issue provisional licenses will be closed for the New Year holidays.
Therefore, many driving schools will be closed for the New Year holidays, and you will have to go home initially.
However, some driving schools continue to offer lessons during the New Year holidays.
In particular, if your schedule does not include a provisional license, you can stay here without any temporary lessons, and you can continue your lessons before and after.
For more information, please contact our customer center.

[Application] Can I learn both regular cars and motorcycles with one Driving Camp? What is simultaneous teaching?

Generally speaking, simultaneous training refers to a plan that allows you to obtain both a regular car license and a motorcycle license at the same time.
The shortest period is 22 days and the price is also very reasonable! There are two combinations: a standard automatic transmission car + Regular Motorcycle, and a standard manual transmission car + Regular Motorcycle.
Anyone with Regular Motorcycle license can apply for a regular manual transmission vehicle and Heavy Motorcycle.
Simultaneous training also refers to plans to obtain multiple licenses at the same time, such as a "large vehicle license, a large special vehicle license, and a towing license" or a "medium vehicle license and a large special vehicle license."
The implementation of simultaneous lessons varies depending on the driving school, so when you apply or inquire, please let us know that you would like to obtain both a ____ license and a ____ license at the same time.
Our dedicated customer center staff will guide you to the driving school that best suits your needs.

[Application] I already have a motorcycle license, but will I be exempt from taking the subject for regular car lessons?

If you have Heavy Motorcycle or Regular Motorcycle license, you are exempt from the first stage theory test, and only have to take two classes of the second stage theory test (26 classes for those without a license or who only have a moped).
In addition, you will be exempt from two hours of Driving Lessons.
In addition, there will be a discount on the fees Driving Camp (the discount amount varies depending on the driving school).

[Application] Do you apply for Heavy Motorcycle training with Driving Camp? Is there any age restriction?

Heavy Motorcycle licenses are available.
However, our center only accepts people who hold Regular Motorcycle license.
Also, some training camps have age restrictions while others do not, so please check the information page for each school or contact the customer center.

[Application] I would like to know the date when I can enter the school with Driving Camp, a large license, or a class 2 license.

For the training camp plans for large-vehicle licenses and Class 2 licenses, the start date will vary depending on the license you hold. We will first confirm the license you hold before providing you with any information.
In addition, as availability changes from time to time, we will check availability at your preferred driving school at the time of your inquiry.
Of course, you can also just check availability. Please contact our customer center.

[Application] Can I cancel enrollment after applying for training camp?

If you cancel and have already applied, we will charge you a cancellation fee in accordance with the terms and conditions.
Please contact us as soon as possible.
On the other hand, if Apply is still provisional, there is no cancellation fee.

[Application] If I pass Final Driving Test with Driving Camp, will I receive Driver's License immediately?

Even if you graduate from Driving Camp you will not be issued Driver's License.
Within one year of graduating, you must take an aptitude test and a written test at a driver's license center (driver's license testing center) designated by the prefecture in which you are registered.
If you pass, you will be issued your driver's Driver's License on the spot if you are at a same-day license center.

[Payment] What payment methods are available?

You can choose between bank transfer and loan depending on your needs. For details on each payment method, please see ( "About Payment").

[Payment] If I pay in cash, by when should I pay?

Once your application is confirmed, full payment must be made within one week.
However, if you are unable to make the payment within one week, we will ask you to transfer 22,000 yen (tax incl.) as a down payment. The remaining balance should be transferred within one month of the down payment due date.
However, this does not apply to those who have less than one month until enrollment.

[Payment] I don't know much about loans?

Payment for Driving Camp must be made in full before enrolling. Because the driving school camp fee is high, our center has contracted with a credit company to provide a driver's license loan that can be paid in installments.
You will be screened in advance to see if you are eligible for a loan, and if you pass the screening by the day you enroll, payments will begin the month after you enroll.
Please note that we may decline to accept loan applications from customers who are approaching their enrollment date.

[Payment] I am a minor, can I get a loan?

Starting from your third year of high school (expected to graduate), you can apply for a loan in your own name by simply confirming the consent of your parent or guardian. You can choose the number of payments from 1 to 60 times.

[Payment] Can high school students apply for a driver's license loan?

High school students, preparatory school students, and part-time workers can also apply.

[Payment] Can I check whether a loan can be used or not before applying for a driver's license loan?

We cannot review your driver's license loan before you apply. You must first apply to a driving school, and then your driver's license loan will be reviewed after the course fee has been confirmed.
If the result of the loan screening is that you are not eligible for a driver's license loan, you will be given the option to change your payment method, reapply for a driver's license loan with a different credit company, or cancel your application.
If you are applying for a driver's license loan, please note that it may take some time depending on the situation. Please apply well in advance.

[Payment] How should I undergo the examination for a driver's license loan?

For driver's license loan screening, after you have officially completed your reservation with us, we will send you a message from our center with a special URL to connect you to our affiliated credit company.

[Payment] What is the process and procedure for screening for a driver's license loan?

After your driver's license loan application has been officially completed at our center, we will send you a message with a special URL that will connect you to our affiliated credit company.
Once you register the customer information required for driver's license loan screening online, the screening will be carried out.
In the shortest case, you will receive the results on the same day. If your enrollment date is approaching, please apply as soon as possible.
Depending on the results of the screening, you may be re-screened to require a guarantor, or the procedure may change to a written procedure.
Also, you may not be able to get a driver's license loan.
Please note that driver's license loan screening is conducted by credit companies, so our center cannot disclose the content or method of the screening.

[Payment] Do I need a guarantor when applying for a loan?

In principle, credit companies affiliated with our center do not require a guarantor. However, minors will need parental consent to apply for a loan.
Please note that depending on the results of the screening, you may be required to provide a guarantor.

[Payment] When is the payment start date for a loan?

Payment will begin from the month following the month of enrollment. Depending on the enrollment date, it may be delayed by one month.
Generally, the payment will be automatically transferred from a designated account, so please note that if there is no balance in the account, the payment will not be debited.

[Payment] What are the screening criteria for driver's license loans?

The credit company's screening standards will be applied to the screening. Please note that the screening will be conducted by the credit card company you are applying to, so we are unable to confirm the details of the screening.

[Payment] Is there a separate fee for bringing the child to school in addition to the fee listed on the website?

Please bring the provisional license application fee of 2,850 yen (tax exempt) directly to the school.
In addition, some driving schools may require additional fees. Please check the school page for details.

[What to bring] How many changes of clothes should I bring to the training camp?

I think it's a good idea to bring about 3 days worth of clothes and wash the rest.

[What to bring] Can I send my luggage during the training camp by courier in advance? Can I send my luggage to my accommodation? Or Driving School?

When participating in Driving Camp, please send any luggage you bring to the driving school to the driving school.
Please contact our center to let us know that you will be sending your package.
When sending, please make sure to clearly state your name and have it delivered by the day before your enrollment date.
Please check the "Directions" sent to you after you apply for the address of the driving school and how to send your luggage.
Please note that you will be responsible for the shipping fee. (Some driving schools offer free delivery service.)
However, please be aware that if you include important documents required at the reception in your luggage, you may not be able to enter the school.

[What to bring] How much money should I bring?

I think it should be around 20,000 to 30,000 yen. We recommend that you refrain from bringing large sums of money as you may get into trouble during the training camp. If you are concerned, it is best to use a cash card or credit card.

[Accommodation] What about accommodations?

Each school has its own accommodations and externally affiliated hotels.
There are a variety of accommodation options available, from single rooms to shared rooms for several people, apartments, pension-style accommodation, and luxury tourist hotels.
There are dormitories within walking distance of the driving school and dormitories accessible by school bus, so please check when applying.
In principle, men and women are located in separate buildings or on different floors to ensure maximum security.
On-campus accommodation is accommodation operated directly by the driving school and located on the driving school's premises.
The private accommodation is also run directly by the driving school, but is located away from the school.
Both have a full range of facilities that are convenient for camping, and the prices are set cheaper than hotels. However, there are curfews, drinking alcohol is prohibited in the accommodation, and other rules that each school has.
On the other hand, in a hotel, you can spend your time freely after the lesson and your privacy is guaranteed. However, the price is more expensive than the school dormitory or private dormitory.

[Accommodation] What are the room types "regular" and "shared room"?

Regular type/shared room type = You will share a room with other students.
The number of people per room varies depending on the accommodation facility. You can apply for a room for one person.
Even if you feel a bit nervous at first, you will surely quickly become friends with everyone in your room!!

[Accommodation] Can I stay in the same room as a friend?

This is possible if you request it at the time of application. If you request a "twin" room type for two people, or a "triple" room type for three people, you will be guaranteed to share a room.
(We may not be able to accommodate your request depending on room availability and the number of people applying.)
The types of rooms available vary depending on the driving school. If the driving school has triple rooms, you can enter "triple."
If the driving school does not have triple rooms, you will basically be asked to choose from "shared rooms," "single rooms," or "twin rooms."
If you are undecided, we will contact you by phone after your application to explain and guide you to the room type that best suits your needs.
However, under the regular plan, only same-sex couples can apply to share a room.

[Accommodation] After applying for a twin room with a friend, is it possible to change to a single room before entering the school?

Yes, it is possible.
However, depending on the application situation, we may not be able to accommodate your request.
Additional charges may apply due to changes in plan (twin room → single room).

[Accommodation] Can couples participate in Driving Camp?

Please feel free to contact us as some schools allow boys and girls to share the same room if they have the consent of their parents.

[Meals] Is 3 Meals Provided plan included in the price? Where and what kind of food will be served?

The cost of three meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) is included in the fee for Driving Camp. Meals may be boxed lunches, set meals in the dining hall, or buffets. There are also driving schools where you eat in the dining hall of the accommodation, and driving schools where you eat boxed lunches at the driving school.
*The "Self Cook" and "No Meals Plan" do not 3 Meals Provided.

[Meals] What are the "self-service" and "no-meal" plans?

"Self" is a plan that does not include one or two meals.
"No meals" is a plan in which no meals are provided during Driving Camp.
As a result, meals are not included in the camp fee, making it cheaper, and this plan is perfect for those who want to be able to eat whatever they like.
Be sure to check the surrounding area of your driving school or accommodation in advance.
Some driving schools provide cooking utensils, tableware, and simple seasonings in the rooms, and some accommodations allow you to cook your own meals. You can choose to cook your own meals or eat out, so it is also recommended for those who want to enjoy local cuisine.

[Transportation] Please tell me more about training camp transportation expenses.

Round-trip transportation costs will be paid at the time of graduation.
Please purchase the ticket for the outbound trip at your own expense. The return trip can be arranged by the driving school on the day of graduation.
Please note that the fare will be provided for the section specified by the driving school, so for example, if the covered area is from Shinjuku Station to Utsunomiya Station, the customer will be responsible for the fare to Shinjuku Station.

[Transportation] Are transportation costs included in the price? Isn't there a personal cost?

Each driving school has a designated transportation route for each region. The driving school will only cover the transportation costs for the designated transportation and route.
(Please refer to the "Access and Transportation Fees" section on each driving school's page.) Customers will be responsible for any access costs outside the designated routes, so please check when applying.

[Transportation] Will we meet on site when entering the school?

Each driving school has its own designated meeting place and time. From the meeting place (mostly around train stations), you will travel to the driving school by school bus.
For more details, please refer to the "Transportation Information" sent to you after application. Or please contact our Customer Center.

anxiety

[Application] Is it okay to obtain Driving Camp in an area where there is snow in the winter?

No need to worry! Each Driving Camp school is fully prepared for snow. Driving schools in snowy areas (such as the Tohoku region and Shinetsu region, which have a lot of snow in winter) such as Yamagata, Fukushima, and Niigata, which are popular for driving school camps,
We have perfect snow removal equipment and systems, so lessons have rarely been canceled even in heavy snowfall.
Feel free to apply even in winter!

[Application] I am thinking of applying as a solo female, but are there any solo participants?

Don't worry. There are many women who participate alone.
There are many driving schools that only accept female students and have complete security measures.
Please contact us and we will introduce you to recommended driving schools that are friendly to women.

[Before entering the school] I usually live without glasses and do not own them, but I am worried whether my eyesight will meet the requirements for entering the school.

For regular car licenses, Regular Motorcycle, and Heavy Motorcycle, the minimum is 0.3 in one eye and 0.7 in both eyes (glasses and contact lenses are allowed).
The admission requirements for large vehicle licenses and towing licenses are a visual acuity of 0.5 or above in one eye and 0.8 or above in both eyes (glasses and contact lenses are permitted. Depth perception tests are required).
If you do not meet the requirements for the vision test after enrollment, you will not be able to enroll. If you have any concerns, please go to an eye doctor in advance to have your current vision measured.
If you do not meet the requirements, please bring your own glasses or contact lenses with you on the day of enrollment.

[Before enrolling] I am going to the driving school for the first time, what kind of preparation should I do?

If you have Driving Camp, you tend to have a lot of baggage. Be sure to check to make sure you haven't forgotten anything before the day arrives. If you can procure them locally, make good use of them, and be sure to double-check important documents such as resident cards and ID cards, as they may not be accepted.

[While enrolling] What if there is a delay or suspension of transportation on the day of enrollment, and it seems like you won't be able to make it in time for the meeting time?

Please contact our customer center.
Our center will coordinate between you and the driving school and support you as much as possible so that you can enroll on the day.

[While enrolled] Will there be an additional fee if I exceed the minimum number of days?

If it is within the scope of the "guarantee" set by the driving school, there will be no additional charge.
However, if the lesson is delayed due to customer reasons (lateness, illness, injury), the guarantee will not apply and additional charges will apply.
Please note that the test fee of 1,700 yen for Karimenkyo Written Test test from the second time onwards is not covered by the guarantee.

[While enrolled] If I decide to leave the school midway, how much of the training camp fee will I get back?

If you decide to drop out or transfer to another school after enrolling, the fee will be calculated according to the method determined by the school.
The driving school will refund you the actual expenses incurred up to the day of the lesson, minus a cancellation fee.
(However, depending on the progress of the lessons, we may not be able to refund or we may charge additional fees.)
The actual costs include the enrolment fee, Driving Lessons fee, academic training fee, textbooks, accommodation and meals, and other miscellaneous expenses.
In addition, travel expenses will be borne by the participant.

[While enrolling] If I exceed Accommodation Guarantee, is it possible to stay at an internet cafe or other place and receive lessons?

With Driving Camp you cannot stay anywhere other than the accommodations designated by the driving school.
You must stay in accommodations designated by the driving school only.
Because there is no extended warranty, you cannot continue your lessons by looking for cheap accommodation or staying at the home of a friend or relative.

[While enrolled] If I get sick, such as a cold, while attending the training camp, will I be forced to go home?

First of all, please be careful to avoid injury and illness.
Please inform the school staff of your symptoms immediately.
Please note that if lessons are delayed due to illness or injury, an additional fee will be charged for the extended stay.
In addition, if you have an infectious disease such as influenza, norovirus, or rotavirus, you will be asked to return home temporarily and fully recover before returning to school.
Either way, rest assured that the driving school and our center staff will provide you with full support! (Please bring your insurance card (a copy is acceptable) in case you need to visit a medical institution.)

[During enrollment] What should I do if I have any trouble while attending the training camp?

During the regular driver's license training camp, you will be living away from the comfort of your home for about two weeks.
Relationships with other students and instructors, progress of lessons, etc. First, please consult with the staff and instructors at Driving School.
If you have any questions that you find difficult to say to the staff at your driving school, please contact our center.

[While enrolled in school] Can I have free time when I am not in class?

Please feel free to enjoy your stay!
It's important to change your mood, and if you have time, it's a good idea to get away from school and stroll around the city or tourist spots, or look for local souvenirs.
However, be careful not to be late for your next lesson.

I'm worried about whether I can keep up with the lessons. Are the lessons tough?

Especially in Driving Lessons, there are many one-on-one lessons. Many instructors at training camps speak in their own dialect, and some students do not realize it and take it as a scolding.
On the other hand, if your attitude or behavior during lessons is poor, you may be severely reprimanded.
Through their lessons, instructors not only teach safe driving techniques, but also a safe driving mindset, as well as dangerous driving maneuvers that can take lives, so instructors take their lessons seriously.
Please be considerate of your students and accept that there will be strict guidance.

  school

[Currently enrolled] Will I be able to graduate? I'm worried about whether I can follow the camp schedule.

Staying out overnight without permission, ignoring curfew, drinking alcohol, using drugs, having trouble with the opposite sex, assaulting other students, etc. will all result in immediate expulsion.
At first, everyone feels anxious about their lessons. In a training camp, you can communicate with your teacher every day, and if you make good friends, they will give you advice.
In addition, the instructors will teach you responsibly. And if you fail the test multiple times, you can rest assured with Guarantee Plan till Graduation, which means no extra fees will be charged.

[After graduation] Is it possible to practice driving on roads in rural areas with little traffic and still be able to drive properly in an urban traffic society?

The key to improving your driving skills is to simply drive long distances and get used to the car.
During on-road lessons in rural areas at a driving school camp, you can drive many times longer than during on-road lessons in congested city areas with heavy traffic congestion.
Also, at the training camp, you ride for several hours consecutively every day, so it is said that you improve faster than if you were commuting to school.

Glossary/Others

What is Do-Live?

This is an application service that carefully selects only driving schools designated by the Public Safety Commission.
We visit and review driving schools and Driving School all over the country, and carefully select and introduce only those that we can wholeheartedly recommend.
In addition to the enrollment benefits, we also offer a wide range of other benefits to applicants.

Can Do-Live's driving school/ Driving School be trusted?

All driving schools introduced on Do-Live are "designated driving schools," so you can choose with confidence.
A "designated driving school" is a driving school that meets the standards set by the Public Safety Commission and is a driver's education institution that has been certified by the Public Safety Commission as designated by the Commission. After graduation, students are exempt from taking the practical test at a driver's license testing center.

Are the driving schools listed on Do-Live cheaper than applying directly to the driving school?

We offer services that are far more beneficial than directly enrolling in Driving School. In addition to supporting your car life after graduation, we offer a variety of benefits that will help you improve your skills, such as services that can be used at nearby facilities and restaurants, written exam preparation videos, and e-learning. Masu. Please see "Colored Tamatebako" for details.

What are the challenge course and safe course?

Simply put, the challenge course is a course that has no guarantees. The peace of mind course is a course that has guarantees, although this varies depending on the driving school.
The guarantee applies to Driving Lessons, skill test, and accommodation. Also, the participation fee differs depending on the guarantee content. The challenge course without the guarantee is cheaper.

What is supplementary lessons?

If the instructor determines that you have not yet reached the level of ability to pass the test after the minimum time limit has been reached, extended lessons will be required.
If you fail the test, you will not be able to take the next test until you have had at least one hour of instruction on the reason for your failure. This instruction time will also be considered as supplementary instruction.

What is Driving Test (Shuken)?

This refers to the practical test that you take to obtain Driver's License.
The training is broadly divided into two stages, the first and second, and each stage consists of written training/written exam and Driving Lessons /practical exam.
To progress from the first stage to the second stage, you will need Driver's License, and Driving Test is one of the tests you must take to obtain Driver's License.
Therefore, Driving Test are not conducted for restricted vehicles, motorcycles, large special-purpose vehicles, and towing vehicles, which do not have a staged training course.
In addition, for models that have stages in their training and in the age column for enrollment eligibility states "You must be 18 years of age or older by the time of Driving Test," you must reach the legal age at the time of Driving Test, not at the time of graduation.

What is Final Driving Test (graduation test)?

This is a practical test taken to graduate from driving school and obtain a driver's license.
If you pass Final Driving Test, you will be issued a graduation certificate (certificate of exemption from practical exams).
Within one year of your graduation date, you can take your graduation certificate to a driver's license testing center or driver's license center in your area and pass the written test for the full license to be issued a driver's Driver's License.
There are no stages in the training for unrestricted vehicles, motorcycles, large special-purpose vehicles, and towing, and the enrollment qualifications state that "you must be 18 years of age or older by the time of Final Driving Test." This is because this is the final exam until graduation from the driving school.
