Niigata Chuo Driving School

During summer vacation, I was able to attend a driving school camp with two friends! The reviews weren't very good, so I was a little worried, but when we got there, the instructors at the reception and the instructors who taught us were all very kind, talked to us a lot, and were all very friendly!
Tamaki-san → He was in charge of the training camp and took care of us from the first day. He was very kind and taught us anything we didn't understand! It was great that he talked to us a lot!
Fujisaki-san → She was very kind, so I was able to drive calmly without feeling too nervous! She was also cute and a really nice person, and we chatted!
Takagi-san → He talked to me while driving and was very kind, even praising my driving!
Kariya-san is kind, gives compliments, and her advice is very easy to understand, so if you get Kariya-san as your tutor before the exam, you've hit the jackpot!
Kondo-san → The conversation was interesting, and having Kondo-san with me made driving really enjoyable, so it was great!
All the other teachers are also very kind, they talk to me, and they praise me, it's the best!!
I had a great time making friends with the other people who started at the same time as me! I would like to go to this Driving School again when I get a different license next time! Thank you for the past two weeks!!

Everyone was so patient and understanding, even though I'm not very good at understanding things, and patiently explained things to me over and over again until I finally understood!
Although I didn't get a passing score on the practice test before the final exam, thanks to everyone's support, I was able to pass the final written driver's license test on my first try!!!
All the instructors were so kind, and I'm grateful that they were so nice and patient with me, even though I was constantly screaming and saying things like "Ahhh!", "Wow!", and "It's scary!" during my lessons.
The traffic volume around the area was just right, which was great! Being close to the station, there were 100-yen shops, drugstores, and supermarkets all within about a 15-minute walk, so even though it was a training camp, I didn't have any problems during the 14 days!

There were a few instructors with a slightly strong tone, but I didn't mind at all! In fact, I found the instructors with a stronger tone more approachable, like good old-fashioned instructors! There's an instructor who looks like Beat Takeshi, so if you see him, try asking him, "Have you ever been told you look like him?" 😂 He even took off his mask and showed me his face lol He looks so much like him, you'd think he was related! lol He was a great person, both in name and teaching style!
The female instructors were also happy for us, regardless of gender, saying things like, "That was great!" which made me really happy. ☺️

I attended a two-week driver's license training camp.
I had the opportunity to work with various instructors,
Some instructors were cheerful and engaging, while others were quiet and only spoke the bare minimum. Still others sounded a bit harsh, but I figured that was just how they were, and none of them bothered me too much.
Everyone on the reception floor was very friendly and easy to talk to.
Being able to take courses online at my own pace was very convenient, and being able to watch videos for review made studying much easier.
I drove in my hometown for the first time yesterday, and it was really tough because I'd never practiced parking properly before. (laughs)
I did parallel parking, but I was wondering if regular parking could also be included in the practical lessons...?
There was also a cafeteria, and the food was delicious.
I stayed at a country hotel and had a comfortable stay without any problems. (They also have a shuttle bus, which is convenient.)
I successfully passed the written exam today and obtained my driver's license.
I made new friends and had a fun two weeks.

I went there last month for a training camp.
I passed both the provisional license test and the final driving test on my first try without having to extend my stay.
I went back home, returned to Tokyo the next day, took the driver's license test, and passed on my first try.
If you study here, you won't need to extend your stay, and you'll definitely pass your driver's license test.

"Regarding the hotel for the training camp"
It was a country hotel, but it's a bit old.
I had a comfortable stay. It was great to be able to choose between Yoshinoya and Mister Donut for breakfast, and there was a convenience store, Ito-Yokado, and Matsumoto Kiyoshi next to the hotel, so I had no inconveniences during my two weeks there.
The hotel's front desk staff were really friendly, which was great.

"About school"
There were so many choices for lunch at school, and they were all delicious. I ate a lot of tonkotsu ramen.

Perhaps because it was a training camp, there were several times when we had about four hours of free time between classes. The Country Hotel, in particular, was a bit far away even by bus, and the bus only ran once an hour, which was inconvenient. I wish they would either run the bus twice an hour or eliminate the free time altogether.
If you have friends, you can kill time by going to family restaurants or something around the school, but it's pretty tough when you're alone.

I'm currently attending driving school. While there are individual differences among instructors, they are generally kind, and if you're being unfairly reprimanded, I think the problem lies with the student.
Lunch is delicious, and breakfast and dinner are covered by meal vouchers usable at nearby restaurants. The sushi on the Sea of Japan side is especially tasty, so you can enjoy the luxury of getting your driver's license while eating sushi during your training camp.
If you're planning a training camp, the area around your accommodation is very well-equipped, so why not explore it if you have some free time?

[Overall Impression]
Overall, I think it's a very good school. I would recommend it to others. The teachers are generally warm and kind, and the online courses were convenient.
The location is easily accessible from Niigata Station, and there are plenty of restaurants, shops, public baths, local malls, stylish shops, and cafes nearby, making it a great environment for a change of pace.
Also, I thought it was a good point that I could experience various road environments, as I could ride on both busy urban roads near Niigata Station with lots of people and cars, and quiet country roads in the countryside.

[About accommodation]
It was a nice apartment very close to the driving school. The shower and bathroom had a bathroom dryer, and it was furnished with appliances such as a TV and microwave, so I had no problems.
Since it's not a hotel, you need to bring your own towels and tissues, but I didn't find it particularly inconvenient. There are supermarkets and a Don Quijote nearby, which is convenient.

[Regarding lunch]
I received a meal coupon, which I used at the cafeteria. The cafeteria had a similar atmosphere to a school cafeteria, and the food was delicious.

[About the teacher]
The instructors were generally kind, and even when there were strict moments, it gave the impression of "gentle strictness." Since driving is a matter of life and death, I personally felt more at ease knowing that I was being instructed fairly thoroughly.
However, there were a few people who I couldn't hear at all, or whose way of speaking came across as condescending. I was hurt when someone said to me sarcastically, "Do you understand Japanese? Are you okay?" I was also confused when someone said, "It's pointless to say anything more because you have no sense." I feel that teaching methods, ways of dealing with people, and compatibility vary from person to person.
Also, personally, I did notice some inconsistencies in the level of service I received. However, this isn't limited to driving schools; it's a person-to-person interaction, so I think compatibility plays a role.

However, many of the instructors were incredibly kind and supportive. Some even patiently explained things to me using pen and paper outside of lesson time, even though I was a slow learner. When I passed, everyone congratulated me, saying "That's great!", which made me very happy.

[Overall Impression]
I'm lowering the rating by one star because there were a few instructors with eccentric personalities, but I think that driving schools are also places where you interact with all sorts of people, so it's all part of the learning experience.
If I had a friend who was considering getting Driving Camp, I would definitely recommend this school.

If you get a bad instructor, just ask them to change him, and you won't get him again. There are more good instructors than bad, so there's really nothing to worry about.

Thank you for your assistance with Self Cook for our training camp.
I would have preferred a hotel, but they were all booked, so I opted for Self Cook. However, it turned out to be a great decision as the apartment was only a 5-minute walk from the school.

I have almost no complaints about the room itself, but the mattress was so thin that it made my shoulders and lower back very sore.
There are no boxes of tissues, plastic wrap, or condiments, so it's recommended to bring your own from home.

There were a lot of negative reviews, which made me a little hesitant, but there were actually a lot of kind teachers.
I received instruction from many different people over the past two weeks, but there were three truly amazing teachers who were incredibly kind, taught me well, and even shared extra insights. Thank you so much.
There were two people who seemed a little intimidating, but their way of speaking was just slightly strong, and there was no abusive language, so personally, it didn't bother me that much.

There were so many delicious restaurants, convenience stores, supermarkets, and chain stores within walking distance, which was incredibly convenient. I'm so glad I chose this place. Thank you for everything.
