Driver's license

only this! 4 things you should know before taking academic training at a driving school

Now, let's get our license! Even if you try to take the first step, it can be difficult because you have to go to the driving school, listen to the explanation, make a schedule, make reservations, and so on. I've made a schedule for now, but is this really okay? I think some people are worried about this. Here we will answer any questions you may have regarding academic training. After reading this, you will be able to understand how to receive appropriate academic training and create a schedule that suits you.

The definitive guide to preparing for academic exams: Genki Talk!

1. About the theory training

Training sceneFirst of all, there are (1) the first stage and (2) the second stage of academic training.

(1) First stage

In the first stage, you will learn the traffic rules and manners necessary to drive a car, as well as the minimum basic knowledge you need to know before heading out on the road. You will take classes using textbooks distributed by the driving school/ Driving School.

(2) Second stage

In the second stage, students learn more specialized knowledge than the first stage, such as traffic accident prevention, driving on expressways, driving under special circumstances, and vehicle maintenance and inspection. As with the first stage, the lessons use textbooks distributed by driving schools and Driving School, but practical lessons such as "first aid" are also taught.

2. You can take theoretical lessons regardless of your license number!

pointIf you do not have a license for academic training, you will be required to attend 26 hours in total, with the first stage being ``10 periods'' and the second stage being ``16 periods.'' (*For those who are qualified for first aid, such as nurses, the second stage will be 13 hours.)

(1) First stage

In the first stage of academic training, you will first take a subject ① called the preceding subject and an aptitude test. Please note that you will not be able to take other courses or Driving Lessons unless you have taken Preliminary Course ①. After that, you will take subjects ② to ⑩. Departments ② to ⑩ can be taken regardless of the number, so check the driving school schedule and take as many as you can! (*You cannot take the same subject twice.)

(2) Second stage

In the second stage of academic training, students will take academic subjects ⑪~㉖. (*The number may be ① to ⑯.) You can also take this regardless of department number. *If you do not obtain a provisional driver's license, you will not be able to attend the second stage of academic training.

(3) Three subjects to be careful about

a) If you do not take the subject "Route Design" and "Expressway Driving", you will not be able to proceed to the second stage of Driving Lessons "Independent Route Setting" and "Expressway Driving". We recommend taking the above two courses as early as possible.

b) The subject of "First Aid" is a 3-hour continuous class. There is a limit of 10 students per instructor, so reservations may be required depending on the driving school.

c) There is academic training called set training that is carried out as a set with the second stage skill "hazard prediction training". Some driving schools require reservations.

3. There is no daily limit on theoretical training!

Without limitDriving Lessons has a maximum of two periods per day in the first stage and three periods per day in the second stage, but there is no limit for academic training. If you take academic courses that you can take during your free time, you will be able to proceed with your studies smoothly.

4. You can take theory lessons without making a reservation!

Possible to attend without reservationReservations are required for Driving Lessons, but not for theory lessons.
However, as mentioned above, please be careful of the following two departments.

a) The subject of "First Aid" is a 3-hour continuous class. There is a limit of 10 students per instructor, so reservations may be required depending on the driving school.

b) There is academic training called set training that is carried out as a set with the second-stage skill "hazard prediction training". Some driving schools require reservations.

5. Conclusion

If you are planning to obtain a regular driver's license, we recommend that you complete Driving Lessons and academic training at the same time and proceed with the first stage of training so that you can take the provisional driving license test. This is because you cannot take the provisional driving license test or Final Driving Test unless you complete both the specified number of Driving Lessons and academic training. If you finish Driving Lessons first and put off the academic training because you enjoy driving, you may end up feeling a little worried because there will be too much time left until the test date, and it's been a long time since you've driven. Masu. When making a lesson reservation, please check which subjects you are taking and adjust your schedule accordingly.
